For reference, the python-requests bug is bug #766419. Also note that I forgot the 's' at the end of the package names: it is python-requests, python3-requests and python-requests-whl.
And to conclude, I did try to updated the python3-requests and python-requests packages. And pip does use the wheel-thing so it is safe to update them.
