Hi,

I've been taking a look through the QA team's packages and I found the
version of python-irc in unstable to be considerably behind the upstream
version.

I understand that the reason this cannot be updated is a new dependency has
been introduced that will require packaging an additional Python library.

Only three packages in Debian appear to depend on python-irc:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dependent maintainers for python-irc:
Ben Armstrong <[email protected]> (xpilot-ng-common)
Debian Python Modules Team <[email protected]>
(python-cobe)
Debian Multimedia Maintainers
<[email protected]> (idjc)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not familiar with these packages that are depending on python-irc, but
if you would like to continue to have them depend on python-irc, please
update bug #730084.

As this package is now almost 2 years behind upstream and has been orphaned
for a considerable time, I may request removal of this package unless I hear
otherwise from you.

Thanks,
Iain.
