We ran into this in Ubuntu and I just uploaded a simple change to disable these two tests: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/319812483/python-traits_4.6.0-1build1_4.6.0-1ubuntu1.diff.gz I also filed a bug upstream as I could reproduce it consistently on my system.
