Hi,
I'm currently looking for an experienced python developer for an up to 4 week contract to assist with some front end web infrastructure development for a specific BBC /collaborative project. (http://www.participateonline.co.uk/ ) Ideally this person should be able to start within the next 2-3 weeks. Skills the developer should ideally have: * Demonstratable/decent amount of experience in developing systems using python * Good understanding of how to build WSGI based systems, both inside and outside a given web framework. * Experience of building systems using the Cheetah templating engine, preferably including going from adhoc usage to compiled templates. You should be able to implement the system in a REST API friendly way, and view the requirement of being able to work with JSON as expected. * Ideally looking for someone in the local region (ie near BBC Manchester) since I'm expecting a need to stay in close contact, during development, preferably onsite for at least a few days each week. * There is a clear, prioritised, spec of what is needed/expected. Specifically, there's a clear datamodel, and development spikes in place, meaning it's largely just fleshing out the implementation, but there's always a devil in the details. (hence the previous bullet point :-) * Whilst the focus is on building out infrastructure, an understanding of accessibility issues, and how to build a nice/modern looking website is useful. The key thing though is assisting in fleshing out system functionality. * I'm expecting that the spec will probably need revising in terms of fine detail as the project proceeds. We'll obviously set acceptance criteria, but we may need to be flexible (within reason & sensible constraints) about how we get here. * There's a standard BBC contract for dealing with the legal issues, but the bottom line is there's probably flexibility there since we'd want that fair for you as well as for us. Assuming all goes well, we'd probably want whomever takes the contract to assist with maintenance/support over the summer. The project relates to building the web platform bit of a web, mobile, IPTV, desktop widgets, etc "thing" designed to allow for interesting participatory campaigns/events/etc. Fundamentally that needs the BBC and the technology to get out the way, and enabling "stuff" to happen, from conversations, through to enabling courses of action, without people being fussed about the platform they're using, in a way that's meaningful to them. The web platform is the largest of these bits, and that's where you can help. Interested? If so, please email my work email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you think you know someone who can help, please pass this on. Sorry to anyone who views this as spam, but hopefully someone local will get a contract from it :-) I'm also going to be forwarding this to a few other northern and python based forums, so apologies if you see this more than once. I'd rather not go further afield if we can help it. I've been told to say that we're really not interested in recruitment agencies at this time - sorry guys! (and yes, it really does have to be python :-) Regards, Michael -- Michael Sparks, Snr Research Engineer, BBC Future Media Research & Innovation, [EMAIL PROTECTED], Kamaelia Project Lead, http://kamaelia.sf.net/ Room 1046, New Broadcasting House, BBC Manchester, M60 1SJ, 0161 24 44323 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post: [email protected] To unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Feeds available at http://groups.google.com/group/python-north-west/feeds For more options: http://groups.google.com/group/python-north-west -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
