Don't know about anyone else but this sounds like an interesting project - I'm 
interested in learning more about the practical issues of updating existing 
code to Python 3. I'm guessing that the case study would give us some hints 
about things to be aware of when looking at PyPNG.
Anyway, gets my vote!
