Software Carpentry is holding a Boot Camp at the University of
Manchester on April 18 to 19. The course (aimed mostly at postgrad
scientists) has Python, shell, version control, testing, and other
good stuff. I will be volunteering and teaching the shell part of the
course.

We need a couple more helpers. We've found it particularly helpful to
have a ratio of about 5:1 students to helpers. So if you know your
stuff and have an interest in meeting scientists and sharing your
computer skills with them then we'd appreciate your help. Software
Carpentry is trying to turn helpers into tutors too, and can help with
that, so if teaching one of the part of a Boot Camp or leading one
sounds like something you'd like on your CV then definitely get in
touch.

You don't need to be an expert, the real benefit that helpers provide
is just nudging people along so they don't get left behind because of
a typo which is obvious to you but unclear to the novice, or helping
them install a Python package.
