Hi all, Just wanted to drop a note to say hi before I turn up (I hope) at the meeting in Manchester tomorrow evening. I work for a software company called The Foundry - we're primarily involved in the film and design businesses, producing a range of software for digital media creation. Our showreel is here: http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/about-us/showreels/. We make heavy use of python, from our build infrastructure through to allowing customers to, er, customise the software to fit their pipeline. Having started from zero python knowledge a few years ago (more of a C++ guy back then), I've ended up using Python in all sorts of situations, and mostly love it. The bits I don't love are probably topic for the pub!
I'm currently based in London (and the US), but we're opening a Manchester office in the very near future. Wherever we have offices, we try to become part of the engineering community - be it events like beergraph(think a London Siggraph for VFX, held in a pub), or VFX company football leagues. So I wanted to come along and say hi, maybe embarrass myself by doing a bit of coding and meet some of you tomorrow night, but I didn't just want to turn up out of the blue - hence this message. Apologies for the late notice, there's been some strangeness in joining the google group (Thanks Safe!) Look forward to meeting some of you tomorrow evening.
