This is actually a windows problem I have seen many times. What happens is if any program crashes, it can leave phantom icons on the system tray. I have seen this a lot with outlook and Yahoo Pager. What you usually need to do is just move your mouse over the icon on the tray and windows will clean it up. You may need to click the icon on the try to make it go away.
