Well I did try it before posting it up (I always do!) and it worked fine for me. That said, I'm using XP against a Win2k3 and I don't have access to NT4 or Samba. I note, though, that the msdn page [1] indicates "Requires Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, or Windows 2000 Server." which would seem to rule out NT4 and possibly Samba. Shame.
