To clarify, after a little Googling: it appears that altho' Win32_VolumeChangeEvent is exposed under WinXP it's effectively not implemented. Win32_DeviceChangeEvent doesn't return the device itself. Not sure what OS you're running on, so this may not be an issue. Still seems worth combining some sort of before-and-after scanning (especially given the small number of devices) with a change event.
