this works too:
cube1 = PyNode("pCube1|pCubeShape1")
cube2 = PyNode("pCube2|pCubeShape1")
cube1.isInstanceOf( cube2 )
as does the traditional python isinstance query:
isinstance( cube, Mesh )
isinstance( cube, DagNode )
