Hi Miguel,

sadly no i didnt however i was just using it in a script and so i realized i could use 'closestPointOnMesh'
node as it has a ClosestFaceIndex.

however i did implement this code below and i think i did something wrong because my results where not any different.

http://www.ariel.com.au/a/python-point-int-poly.html

i really didn't go beyond this. if i get time i might get back to it.

basically your calculating weather a point is in a given 2d area. but closetsPointOnMesh node seems to work well.

anyway hope that helps

let us know if you get to any other solutions

polygonId at a UV space??

Thank you.

Miguel.

Hi all,

is there anyway in API to get a Polygon at a Uv space?

MfnMesh or MItMeshPolygon all have and Inputs for Poly ID but unless your
iterating over the Mesh then its really guesswork as to which Poly is at a
UV point.

MfnMesh.getUVAtPoint() still needs a PolyID and if you don't have one then i
have found the result can be Way off the Mark

so how can i get a Poly At a UV position if all i have is a UV pos? what is
the workflow for this?

any insights would be great

cheers
