Do you have all the proper attributeAffects calls in your node? This has a 
direct impact on what the hypershade displays when graphing incoming 
connections.
Well, no, since the shading node is just a 'standin' node for a 3rd party 
renderer, it does not actually do any calculation. I did not know that the 
attributeAffects actually affects the node graphing, I thought that if an 
attribute is set as 'connectable' (which is the default) than Maya will graph 
it.

Of course it does not explain why you can display both in and out fine.
And that it only happens in the hyperShade, the graph is displayed properly in 
the hyperGraph. Go figure...

But thanks, I'll try adding some attributeAffects' to the code and see if it 
solves the problem.
