Happy new year everyone!  may it be as informative as this one has been;

@Justin
  Thanks for putting this together and then possess the knowledge to follow
through with it with shown expertise and willingness to help.

@Ken ("now I need to find the equivalent for Houdini")
  Ah! no need, you have found the right place, just comes down to
approach. hom actually imports fine internally in Maya if it's set up
correctly, in my last job I wrote a dev test titled InstaBake where you can
export geometry from maya into the houdini python api allowing for instant
socket connected feedback among the applications and the Houdini UI only
serves as a placeholder for calling mantra and micropolygons from within
the Maya workspace. It's super easy but I'm not sure how popular removing
the need to write out geometry cache files unless for backup purposes is :)

@Every enthusiastic coder, beginner to expert, keep writing and may the new
year bring new problems to solve and new challenges to overcome.

  Rock on Python!
  Rock on Maya!
  Rock on all you people who make the two exist, as without the users these
would be mere theoretical terms
Been a pleasure
