Personally I think it is fine to have C++ discussions on this list, simply because we all know this list has evolved in scope. It is a bit misleading still having the group called python inside Maya, but we also tend to talk a lot about general Qt regardless of it being in Maya. Or we talk about general practices that may or may not relate to Maya. I think the scope has become more of a "development in visual effects".
I can look into the tagging options, and update the group description and sticky topics. I would consider the group rename, possibly, but the email should definitely remain so as not to break the community. It may be possible to have an alias email address that is more general? Not sure on that.
