Hi, Are you on the pythonce mailing list? I think others will be interested in what you are doing.

What are the on-going plans for this project? I don't think there's a single place to go to find the plans for "this project". The SF project itself pretty much serves as a container to distribute files from, hold patches, etc. Unlike other SF projects, there doesn't seem to be a core group of developers working on "python for CE". At the least, interested developers come and go. Would you like to take a more active role in "the project" such as it is? > 2. Any plans on rolling it into python proper? Personally I have hoped for this over the past 4 years or so. However there always seems to be too many changes to the base code needed to make it work on CE (lack of proper floating point errors, for example). So, we end up with patches that are really too big to vet and integrate into core python. Perhaps as EVC and the CE runtime gets better, that problem will be reduced. However we still have older devices to support, so I'm doubtful we'll get an out-of-the-box compile for CE anytime soon. > 3. If not any plans on 2.4.x? I have started in on 2.4, first by getting a good subversion tree with diffs for 2.3. Then I was going to apply those diffs to the 2.4 codebase. However, I haven't quite finished my changes for the 2.3 version. I left off working on runtime issues, like the deployment of the library and dlls on external flash.. Proper handling of system directories using system names (so that non-english CE devices would function properly). -- However, I, like others, am a contract programmer with limited time and means. I have no clients interested in python on CE, so no one to sponsor my time, and I'm quite busy doing "real work". Also, I have an original iPaq, so I'm already 2 generations behind on the CE platform. That's one thing I find really annoying about CE.. Platform differences, EVC3 vs EVC4 vs. the new visual studio coming out. Its a giant pain and, I don't have a personal steak in it I'm afraid. I'd also like to have a CE version of Hap Debugger http://hapdebugger.sourceforge.net/ -- So my python ce work has been on and off. mostly off lately. -- Brad Clements, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (315)268-1000 http://www.murkworks.com AOL-IM or SKYPE: BKClements _______________________________________________ PythonCE mailing list PythonCE@python.org http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/pythonce
