If you're keeping the focus on Python, then in addition to Pádraig Brady's presentation, I suggest you arrange talks on Google App Engine and Django. Outside of the language itself, its myriad libraries, and the support of Google, I believe that these are the greatest assets Python has. Does Netsoc have a budget to pay visiting speakers' expenses? If so, you could arrange for one of the core Django developers to visit. Google has a legion of staff in Dublin, so I'd guess they'd put forward a speaker if you asked. (A real coup would be to get the "Benevolent Dictator for Life", Guido van Rossum, to visit--although he's unlikely to want to make the trip from the USA.) Good luck!
