Hi there,

Whatever your feelings about the company Martha Rotter lately dubbed
/The Evil Empire/, Silverlight is a cool technology--and it does
support development in Python.

There's a three-hour event tomorrow night on "Developing RIAs with
Silverlight 2.0":

[RIA: Rich Internet Application.]

It's in the Morrison Hotel from 7pm until 10pm.

See the linked page for the guest speaker's profile.

It's a free event (but you may find the user-group's sign-up and
registration process to be fairly heavy-handed).

And on November 1st in Cork, a day-long event which is also free to attend:

It's still taking shape. There isn't much detail about the speakers
and presentations yet.

If you search for "Barcamp Cork", you'll still find echoes of the
first Barcamp held in Ireland, just two years ago. It sounds like it
was a great day.

A Barcamp is a grassroots conference. If you've ever been to one in
Ireland, you'll know that they're remarkably well organised and that
they get sponsorship from various companies in the technology sector.
Attendees are mostly bloggers, IT people and entrepreneurs (frequently
all three in one person).

Will one or more speakers from this group come forward to speak in
Cork? There's already been a request for a hands-on session about
Django. They also want to organise a sprint to produce a "webapp in a
day".

Ciao,

Kevin.
