This has been done for a little while, but I keep forgetting to mention it.
The front page now shows the next (or last if nothings planned event). Its hCalendar compatible, so if you have the right bookmarklet/greasemonkey script attached you can click to add it to your google calendar and others. Planning on porting it to appengine so it can become part of Vicky/Micks uber awesome new appengine site.
