Hi folks, I was thinking of organising an Open Source coding event sometime around the 9th (Mon) or 10th (Tue) of November in Dublin City centre. I was wondering what kind of interest there would be in rocking up to such an event?
One of the hardest problems to solve with these events is to find suitable bugs to work on - something that tangible, achievable and interesting to hack on. To try and counter this I've set up a superbly primitive tool to gather a list of potential bugs to work on at www.bugboard.org. If there's something you might like to work on then you're welcome to add it to the Proposed list of bugs - perhaps you might have seen something you'd like to give a lash at https://bugs.launchpad.net, https://bugzilla.gnome.org or https://bugs.kde.org Anyone can then just grab any of these bugs by assigning, which also let's others know what you're working on; they may be able to help out or at least have a rant about together. Anyway, the bugboard.org site has been delibrately designed ugly (yeah right!) to give the Rubyists (it's Rails based with the src available at http://github.com/theirishpenguin/bugboard) something to think about hacking on. And all the proposed bugs I've entered thus far concern Bazaar which is Python based so hopefully it'll be easy to find something for everyone! I'm still trying to sort out a venue so reply on or off list if you're interested as this will help gauge what size venue to go for. If you have the mailing list addresses of other Open Sourcey groups that might be interested then please forward them on to me and I can drop them a line. All suggestions welcome.
