A (hopefully) minor nit:
On the web page <http://homepages.cwi.nl/~jack/macpython/beta.html> there is a link to a "fix for Apple Python". Unfortunately, clicking the link tries to go to <http://homepages.cwi.nl/~jack/macpython/pantherfix> , which doesn't exist.
Is it still true that "If you install this on 10.3 it is strongly suggested you also install the fix for Apple Python."?
I googled the PythonMac SIG mailing list archives, and could find no mention of this problem.
