I apologize if this is off topic. I have been researching the following and I thought of this group.
I am preparing a presentation about using python to extend existing applications. One of the things I will attempt to show is the power of OSS. That is, the availability of a wide variety of "ready to use" applications. Not applications in the sense of complete desktop applications, but rather code that handles the edges and nuance of business applications. A few areas are well covered. Database, UI framework and web service examples are plentiful. What I seek is the more esoteric. Examples that would be interesting to an experienced business database application developer who has a well stocked set of tools. And who is just learning about python. I have a handful of examples based on my own work. I am hoping that a few of you on the list might be willing to offer suggestions and links that would add breadth and interest to the presentation. Please feel free to contact me off list if you prefer.
