what python are you using?
This can make all the difference. not just the version number, but what
build, how/where was it installed?>
I built it from source code downloaded at python.org
why not just use the standard binary?
Python 2.5.1 (r251:54863, Apr 15 2008, 22:57:26)
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root group 72 Aug 13 19:00 /usr/bin/python ->
../../System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/bin/python
That's odd -- I didn't think the source distro installed into "System".
Are you sure you're not using Apple-supplied one? Are you on 10.5?
anyway, I'm sorry I can't help with a self-built one -- i have no idea
what extra issues there may be.
