Which installer did you use? I'd guess you used "Mac Installer disk image 
(2.7rc1) for OS X 10.5 and later" and used the other one for previous releases. 
  If you're on a modernish intel system you'll get a 64-bit process when you 
start the "10.5 and later" python, and wx and Tkinter are likely only 32-bit 
which would explain the error.
