cool, the animation example shows everything i need. arbitrary transformations, 
use of the display context, and how to update the viewer.
i will study the code carefully and i am sure this answers all my questions.

Welcome to this list. Feel free to ask any question, even if you didn't RTFM 
(actually, there's no FM!).

I suggest you have a look at the 'animation' sample in the 
/samples/Level1/animation folder. The source code of this script is available 
at 
http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/pythonocc/trunk/src/samples/Level1/Animation/animation.py?rev=781&view=markup

I think it does what you want to achieve.
