Just FYI, a new debian package for ubuntu 12.04 was pushed into the PPA. Just follow these three steps in order to install python-occ on ubuntu 12.04:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cae-team/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python-occ
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python-occ

So far, the easiest way is to download/install oce-0.12 and git
clone/build/install python occ master. I used to work with Ubuntu 12.04
without any problem, Linux is the easiest platform to build pythonocc.
