It appears the status of this bug is unknown. It is unlikely anyone cares enough to test it either. However even if it is still a bug, compat is in 'decommissioning' mode, or at least 'maintenance-only' mode, so this feature is not likely to be implemented/merged as it risks introducing bugs.
