Xqt added a comment. Yes but the step parameter is rarely used. When query is limited it uses the limit from paraminfo and setting another value will fail if QueryGenerator.api_limit is not None. And the instance is able to decrease the limit if needed. In other words imho that step parameter could be omitted on all site methods and an automatic setting should take care about total parameters which is called limit in api.
