If the problem is that the docstring is hard to understand, we could change "Alternatively they may be..." to "Alternatively each item may be...". Is there an example of why having only one Option is useful. It could be achieved using `[Option]`, but requiring the caller to add the `[..]` is silly if there is a common use for only one Option.
