Perhaps it can be a good idea too to publish a biannual report-like of the library at pywikibot-announce, that contain important new features and scripts..
I think that currently you/we are missing of communication with end users. Guy that uses PAWS doesn't know what pywikibot is, developers doesn't update tools if it's works and they will not update self-scripts to use new functions that have lots of advantages...
We have probably the same problem inside the development team, mailing lists and IRC are unused. Only phabricator works.
It was my opinion as a new arrival, now write your own :)
