I checked it with python 3.6 and Windows and I haven't seen any benefit with it. However I have no glue what should be the other features with __interactivehook__. At least tab autocompletion doesn't work with it.
The doc says about __interactivehook__:
When this attribute exists, its value is automatically called (with no arguments) when the interpreter is launched in interactive mode
