An alternative off the wall thought... How feasible would it be to have an option to have a pywikibot pagegenerator module, that utilises a pre-existing PETSCAN? (Or PagePile) A relevant Petscan query (example:https://petscan.wmflabs.org/?psid=18645382) should only contain the 'titles' needed, bypassing the need to access the image metadata at all...
