Thanks for the link. I remember reading that page at some point a long time ago, but didn't remember the details. In any case, making the tests independent of the current directory is a good thing. The more ways a test suite is insulated from its environment, the easier it is to use. It also lowers the barrier to entry for new people who want to contribute to the project because there's less configuration they need to get correct before they can start doing anything. In this case, it's a trivial change which moves the test suite in the right direction. I can't see any reason to not want to do that.
