I checked in a little patch (Rev 3037) for supporting revtex4-1. Among other
changes, it creates a file
<stem>Notes.bib
which is deleted in the end of the run, and it sometimes says
*No file <...>.bbl.
which is parsed. Here is a little example which produces both
behaviours:
