Hi,I'm not quite sure I properly understood your problem. Are you using manual ticks on the x axis at those positions you have data for? Then the labels become close for close values. However, on an axis you should put the ticks equal spaced -- independent of your data.
Still, labels on time axes may still be quite long. Note that you might want to rotate the labels for those cases (see the labeldirection attribute of the axis painter).
