PyX has a concept of different length types which is nice because it
allows for independent scaling of different aspects of the plot.
In short, the letters have the following meaning:

t true length
u lengths of graphical objects like positions etc.
v sizes of visual elements, like arrows, graph symbols, axis ticks, etc.
w line widths
x length of TeX and LaTeX output
m meter
