I imagine that it's based somewhat on Mozilla, using a combination of C
++ and Python glued together with PyXPCOM, but I'm sure someone closer
to the project will be able to correct me on these points.
I don't know if it's still true, but early versions had a lot of XUL,
CSS and JavaScript too.
