It seems we're not all on the same page. When new volunteers introduce themselves, I see some people giving them all sorts of conflicting guidance. Some are sending them to the wiki. Some to the orientation sessions. Some are suggesting testing new test cases. Some are asking them to confirm bug reports.
I'd like to recommend that focus right now on confirming unconfirmed bug reports. We have around 3000 of these unconfirmed reports. There might be serious issues hidden in there. But we won't know until we clear out the "noise" of these unconfirmed reports. This task is ideal for new volunteers since it helps them acquire skills with using Bugzilla, helps them understand how we process bugs, and gets them working with OpenOffice. This task is also very easy to get started with. So let's get through the 3000 unconfirmed bugs. To do this will require help from everyone, new volunteers as well as old. Regards, -Rob
