I'm volunteer in QA since 3 months and I have been checking some bugs with this comments, for example: Fixed in CWS tl77. Fixed in cws fs34c Fixed in cws jl166. Fixed in DEV300m88. I think those are old versions of AOO like OOO310m9, Can I reproduce this bugs with AOO 4.0 or this bugs Can not be reproduce it?
The situation is a little bit different. The OpenOffice code has several "branches": one is the main line, that eventually is released; others are development lines that may or may not be "integrated" in the main development line. You can get a picture from the old, pre-Apache, repository: http://hg.services.openoffice.org/
Names like "OOO..." are a milestone on a release branch. So a bug fixed in OOO310m9 (read: the code line leading to OpenOffice 3.1.0, and on that line milestone #9) is fixed in OpenOffice 3.1.0, but not necessarily in 3.2, 3.3 or 3.4. So it is worth checking.
Names like "DEV300m..." refer to the main development line. This one is used between releases. So a bug fixed in "DEV300m..." is expected to be fixed in OpenOffice 3.4.0 and 3.4.1. DEV300m106 (read: the development line common to all OpenOffice 3.x releases, and on that line milestone 106) was the last one before we moved to the current (different!) structure.
Names like "CWS..." are development branches. We have really many of them. Some have already been integrated, some have not. So, if a bug is said to be fixed in a CWS but you still see it in 3.4.1, please ask the dev list (or here) if that CWS has been integrated or not and mention the bug that would apparently be fixed by integrating it.
