Sure! OpenOffice currently reads DOCX, XLSX, PPTX but does not save in those formats. There is some code for it in the sources, but it is disabled. Reason: the export filters to the old DOC, XLS, PPT formats are still better. This will probably change in future, but at the moment we have read-only support for those types.
