Right now I'm still evaluating if it's the right time to leave qmake or not, so I'm creating a qbs project along with the old qmake one.
I've updated the bug with my findings so far ( https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QBS-697). I think this issue should be re-opened, it looks like some rather subtle bug.
