Some time ago, I suggested updating qdvdauthor to ue QT4, as does KDE4.
The author suggested that is a great idea, but would need some
additional programmers for that large effort. If qdvdauthor does not
migrate to QT4 is runs the risk of becoming antiquated at some point.
Gentoo use to support qdvdauthor but that support was dropped since it
is not migrating to QT4.

I'm sure there are other issues with the codebase. Varol would have to
chime in on qdvdauthor's future or someone with time to maintain the
codebase, at a minimum.

It's not a bad joke, just like many other projects that need (student)
attention. Any professors with grad students looking for a project?
Other professional coders with time to maintain and enhance qdvdauthor?

Furthermore, video is a fast moving target. Technologies like VP8 will
appear on the commercial scene pretty soon; so what is qdvdauthor goals
with support for VP8 among other issues?

I previously suggest the google summer of code as a way to get funding
for a quality grad student(s) to get paid to update qdvdauthor. We the
users could put together a specification for new features and let the
grad students (paid by GSC) to do the work under somebody's mentoring
(Varol) eyes?

The developer-list shows 2 message for 2011, so I'd say the project is dead?

I hang out just in case a new efforts is started to use QT4 and and new
features....
