A small request, if you are willing to do it though.... I think this patch is really useful (IIRC NPTL is a long time trouble with qemu-i386), so instead of leaving this patch just archieved inside qemu-devel, could you please post it to qemu user forum too? So, it will be easy for some one else to get this patch until your patch gets merged by Fabrice..
