I picked it up again a few months back and re-worked the interface to address some of the initial review comments by using glib's exec() wrappers. I also added support for windows along with the guest-file-* interfaces, but then proceeded to blow everything away in an rm -rf ~ incident. And, of course, I was too cool for backups. I think I can still piece most of it back together from some vim backup/temp files that managed to survive, I'm scared to confirm.
