Hi Paolo This option keeps the visibility (on/off) of the maplayers. Main use case is to have an overview map where not all layers are visible.
As the composer uses the central QgsMapLayerRegistry, it is not easily possible to have a totally different set of layers as in the main canvas. Regards, Marco Am Freitag, 24.
