Hi all. Saga has nice analytical tools. Anyone interested in writing a plugin calling saga_cmd? It shouldn't be much work, and it would greatly increase our analytical capabilities. All the best.
-------- Messaggio originale -------- Oggetto: Re: [saga-gis-developer] QGIS plugin Data: Sun, 02 Jan 2011 18:07:53 +0100 Mittente: Volker Wichmann <[email protected]> A: [email protected] Hi Paolo, as far as I know there is nobody working on a QGIS interface to SAGA. Some time ago, Giovanni Allegri showed interest in such an interface and was willing to try to implement it. But I haven't heard from him for about a year. He wanted to implement the interface in Python, and back then, we had some trouble with the Python interface of SAGA using Linux Unicode builds. These issues are solved in the meantime. I'm not very familiar with QGIS, but I would expect a C++ interface to be more efficient. In the meantime, I have also implemented an GDAL driver for SAGA binary grids, I think it is available since GDAL 1.7.2. This should allow reading and writing SAGA grids from QGIS via the GDAL plugin. I don't expect that anyone of the SAGA core developers will initiate such a project by himself, but in case you like to start with such an interface, I'm willing to help. From the user side of view, I think there is interest in such an interface - at least there are some users on the forum that use SAGA for processing and QGIS for map layout.
