Updated to 1.7. SVN r15038. Ubuntu 10.04 a few minutes ago. I still got the same problem.
The funny thing, it is reporting a very old QGIS 14993M and GDAL 1.6.3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Couldn't load PyQGIS. Python support will be disabled.
