I've been working on some build stuff for OS X which includes general changes
and cleanup in the cmake configuration. So far it's OK on OS X, and I compiled
on Ubuntu with no problems, though not with all optional dependencies and some
older ones. It's in my master fork on github and I'd like others to check it
out to make sure I didn't mess up anything:

Mainly I found that a lot of general build options do not need conditionalizing
for platforms. Like a different install root and organization for Mac, *nix,
and windows apps. And platform-specific target properties. There is also a
handy automatic header install feature.

If there are no problems, I'll merge it into the qgis master, though it may be
a bit much for the 1.7 release.
