Hi Marco, hi all,
Not sure there is that much info but I created this issue
http://hub.qgis.org/issues/6765
Apparently, this comes from two specific layers in the project I try to
embed.
And I get this error:
ERROR 10: Pointer 'hDS' is NULL in 'OGR_DS_Destroy'.
But QGIS is not crashing.
Do you have any idea where it could come from? Or what it means?
Thanks!
Denis

Could you open a ticket in the bugtracker and add a small sample project?
Regards,
Marco

Hi Andreas,
Thanks for the reply.
I did not know this feature, which is basically what I asked ;) Great!
I am just facing a few problems. When adding a group, a box appears
with std::bad_alloc and qgis crashes a few times (both 1.8 and master).
Also, not all the layers I select are loaded.
Any ideas on something wrong?
Thanks again,
Denis

Hi Denis,
We have the embedded layers and groups. You can select another QGIS
project and pick the groups and layers you want. It is a live link.
I use this feature to integrate the cadastral data in pretty much
any of my other projects.
It does not allow to change any settings on the layers (e.g.
different min/max scales) - but other than that it works great.
Did you have a look at this feature?

Hi all,
I don't know if this idea has been raised or not, a quick google
search did not lead to anything.
I wonder if it would be feasible to introduce the option of adding a
project as a reference, as you can do in autocad.
Basically, this would be a new type of layer, where you could specify
the scale visibility for example. Layers do not need to be editable
and they shouldn't.
The advantage is that you can insert a "base" project into many
children project. The base layers will be regrouped into one.
Anybody ever thought about this?
Do you have any idea of the amount of work?
Thanks a lot
Denis
