The crash is gone now. I tested again with the nightly and projects
open fine now from the Windows Explorer.

Might be related to the collapsible check box in composers. It

Yes, that's what that commit was about. For some reason my test
projects at home (when testing the new Composer GUI) did not exhibit
that crash. When I got to work, several of my projects consistently
crashed the app on open, especially if the project was opening at
launch. I no longer get crashes after that commit.
Andreas, please build with that commit included [0]. If you see any
more crashes, please let me know and I will look into it right away.

Most of my projects work - the first that didn't was an old one,
which has a
composer crashed with the nightly, but not with a current build.
